recommended Care Instructions for your timber products
At Stim, every product is made to be used and loved. The type of finish we apply depends on how you’ll be putting it to work — whether that’s chopping, serving, or just sitting pretty. With a little bit of care, your timber piece will last for years (and look better with age).
1. Polyurethane finish - A clear, semi-flexible coating that forms a protective transparent layer. It’s chemically inert and built to handle general wear and tear, the odd knock, and even damp or wet areas. Care:
Wipe down with a slightly moistened clean cloth after use.
For persistent spots, use a gentle cleaner like Spray & Wipe.
2. Danish Oil - used for food grade products and for furniture. Danish Oil brings out a warm tone and highlights the grain in timber. It Is food safe.
Care:
Wipe down with a cloth moistened with warm water
• DO NOT use detergents
• Surface can be fully restored by giving a sand with a very fine (320 grit or smoother) sandpaper and re-oiling with Danish Oil.
3. Rice Bran Oil – is typically use this for utensils and boards, as it won’t spoil, its easily available and non-toxic.
Care:
Wipe down with a cloth moistened with warm water
DO NOT use detergents or submerge in water
Surface can be fully restored by giving a sand with a very fine (320 grit or smoother) sandpaper and re-oiled.
4. Stim Natural Timber Balm - is typically used for decorative items and / or for rejuvenating well-loved wooden products.
Care:
Wipe down with a cloth moistened with warm water
DO NOT use detergents or submerge in water
Surface can be fully restored by giving a sand with a very fine (320 grit or smoother) sandpaper and re-finished.
